How a rewritten risk factor becomes a trade
One sentence changed in a 10-K. We follow it from the filing at 04:00 to the position at the open.
At 04:00 a mid-cap industrial filed its annual report. One sentence in the risk factors had changed: a supplier dependency described as limited the year before was now described as material.
The reader agents flagged the change in eleven seconds. The bull agents argued the market already knew. The bear agents found that none of the company’s rivals had made the same change. The bears won.
By 07:00 the idea had been tested against past filings with the same kind of rewrite. It traded at the open, sized inside the single-name limit, with the sentence attached.
